Single Fins are the new Quad Fins...

When simplicity comes'a callin'....who's to say that's "old school'?

I takes notes on the tribes in the lineup these days. Whether it be the old dudes that've been slowly giving their local spot a going over for the last 30 years, or the new ripper groms that treat the same place like a cheese grater treats my mozarrella.

However they choose to treat the ocean we all share...Their styles live miles apart.

However, today also spawns... a hybrid. A select few of the young elite bestow and embrace... the roots.

They wallow to the shore... beaver tails hangin', glassed in single fins equip their tools, and nostalgia plague their young, impressionable minds.

They gravitate toward the old style. They don't know why. They just do.

Maybe it's the rebellious feeling that came with the original gig. I mean, ya gotta pay respect to the pioneers. The true O.G.'s.

It's almost as if styles have role reversed and the old guys are flocking toward the quad fin, and little grommies faithfully embrace the single.

I've seen Dano's crew of young historians, Gato heroi's rebel forces on their Death Daggers, and Josh Hall's loyal curators of the arts. They all flow with the same swagger as their fathers...maybe even grandfathers. Ha!

I do not demoralize this behavior...rather, I bask in it.

It's quite the spectacle. Old has become new. Outdated has taken on a present date of birth. And horizontally striped slick wetsuits have cluttered the lineup.

Longboarding is "cool" again. Even with dozens of super cool sharp pointy boards for sale at Jack's!

The 90's must be over, I guess.

With the world movin way too fast these days... some choose to still take it slow.

Who woulda thought?
