Artist's Statement

I scratch my head at a pair pair of tattered, homeless, corduroy pants that lay lifeless over a filthy newspaper stand in downtown San Francisco. Those pants make me wonder. Everyday I observe life’s ever-dynamic quirks.  My inspiration usually spawns from a casual amble down a road cluttered with strip malls, thin wallets, and incoherent gibberish. That makes me smile. That is all that matters to me.

As far as my selection for themes, materials, and techniques go - I prefer simplicity. I pride myself in a well planned image that requires little, to no, post production. Expressing myself through the glass and diaphragm blades of a simple prime lens remains to be my sacred outlet. My relentlessness to master any camera that may end up in my hands is paramount.  I find inspiration from laughing, and my images usually end up making me laugh. Photography, for me, simply never fails to give back. My casual state of mind keeps my head screwed on straight and shines brightly throughout my photography. Style is everything. And, I believe that style arrogantly lies within subtlety.

My recent work has been littered with travel images from Central America, to Alaska, to Europe, as well as studio work taken place at Cal State Fullerton's and Orange Coast College's fine photography facilities. Everyday life is the engine that drives my creative process. Working as a photographer for print news, television/film production, magazines - anything at all- continues to be my reoccurring lucid dream. I take photography with me everywhere the world takes me... even if I leave my camera behind.

I am conscious of what most people disregard. I value those things as my own personal treasures.
